Wednesday 3 July 2024 was a night to remember for a number of Welsh learners in the Cardiff region when their achievements were recognised during Learn Welsh Cardiff’s annual Awards Ceremony.

The event was held in Cardiff University’s spark | sbarc building, with presenter Lisa Angharad leading the evening’s proceedings.

This year, there were winners of 9 awards with 60 nominations received. The categories included Learner of the Year, Workplace of the Year and Tutor of the Year awards.

In the learner awards, Imy Hopkins was the winner of the Entry Learner of the Year category, Daniel Minty won the Foundation Learner of the Year, and Wayne and Sian Davies won the Intermediate Learner of the Year award. Michelle James Ellison won the award for Advanced Learner of the Year, Linda Smith was the winner of the Proficiency Learner of the Year, Jo Salway was the winner of Workplace Learner of the Year, and Daniel Minty the winner of Learner of the Year.

In the other awards, the Wales Millennium Centre won the Workplace of the Year award, and Sian Giles won the Tutor of the Year award.

Anna Jones is Director of Learn Welsh Cardiff. Anna said: "It was a great privilege to organize once more the Learn Welsh Cardiff Awards Ceremony this year. It is an important event for us to celebrate our learners, not only those who have given their time, made significant progress, and are an example to others, but also those who have also attended 100% of the lessons - there were 16 this year. Good attendance leads to progress. We are extremely proud of all our learners – they are all gaining something from taking part."
