All-new league rankings highlight student satisfaction

National and global rankings have underlined our position as one of the best universities in the country.

Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture is again one of the UK’s top ten journalism and communication studies schools according to the recently published Complete University Guide 2025.

The guide, which compiles publicly available data such as entry standards, student-staff ratios, facilities spending and graduate prospects, ranked the School in ninth place out of ninety institutions nationwide and the highest placed university department in Wales.

The School has also maintained its position in the most recent QS World University Rankings by Subject with an eighth year amongst the top fifty Communications and Media Studies departments worldwide.

This result means the school is ranked seventh in the UK, underlining its position as one of the best universities in the country.

Head of School Dr Matt Walsh said, “We have always been justifiably proud of the special environment we create for our students and staff, a place where all can achieve their potential.”

“Our continuing success shows that we are offer a highly competitive blend of quality teaching and research, graduate prospects, city life and student support and that we remain one of the very best  journalism, media and communication schools in the UK.”
