Vice-Chancellor visits Cardiff’s neuroscience and mental health thought leaders

Professor Wendy Larner has visited the Hadyn Ellis Building to explore the ground-breaking work taking place in the University’s neuroscience and mental health academic community.
The visit, which took place on March 7th, was hosted by the Neuroscience and Mental Health Innovation Institute. It was an opportunity to shine a light on the cutting-edge neuroscience and mental health research taking place across the University and engage the Vice-Chancellor with the University’s recent advancements.
The visit included a series of flash presentations delivered by early career researchers from various centres of research from across the University, including the Neuroscience and Mental Health Innovation Institute, the Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics, the National Centre for Mental Health, the Wolfson Centre for Young People’s Mental Health, the Dementia Research Institute, the Brain Repair and Intracranial Neurotherapeutics Unit, and the Medicine Discovery Institute. These presentations offered a glimpse into the breadth and depth of the interdisciplinary research taking place at Cardiff University.
Following the presentations, Professor Lawrence Wilkinson, lead co-director of the Neuroscience and Mental Health Innovation Institute, guided Professor Larner on a tour of the Institute’s lab facilities. The tour showcased the state-of-the-art equipment available to researchers, as well as highlighting the vital work of the Institute’s PhD students and early career researchers.
Professor Larner said: “The ground-breaking work in neuroscience and mental health research taking place across our University is deeply inspiring."
