Dr Hakan Karaosman, Lecturer at Cardiff Business School, has been named in the Vogue Business 100 Innovators Class of 2023 list as a Sustainability Thought Leader.
The list by the internationally renowned Vogue Business features influential individuals working to reshape the fashion industry.
Dr Karaosman is recognised under the ‘Sustainability Thought Leaders’ category, which highlights the trailblazers steering the fashion industry towards a promising future, grounded in sustainability and inclusivity.
Vogue Business praised Dr Karaosman's research conducted as part of Fashion’s Responsible Supply Chain Hub (FReSCH), which he founded alongside Professor Donna Marshall from University College Dublin.
Dr Hakan Karaosman said: “I am humbled and honoured that I am in the Vogue Business 100 Innovators: Class of 2023. Thank you to Vogue Business for acknowledging our scientific research project FReSCH (Fashion’s Responsible Supply Chain Hub). I am determined to use scientific, independent, and robust research as an instrument to facilitate change, catalyse inclusive conversations and bring light to injustice across fashion supply chains.”
Vogue Business states: “through their research, Karaosman and Marshall interrogate the complex power dynamic at play in fashion supply chains, uplift marginalised communities, and tease out the trade-offs between environmental, social, and business prerogatives that make progress so difficult to achieve.”
Other Sustainability Thought Leaders featured on the list include founders, activists, organisers and designers.
