Adam Price: Remaking Welsh Democracy
29 September 2023
A leading Senedd Member will respond to the new proposals to expand and reform the nation’s parliament during a keynote lecture hosted by Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre.
Recent proposals tabled by the Welsh Government with the support of Plaid Cymru will see the Senedd expand and adopt a new voting system. Under the banner of Wales positioning itself as a ‘laboratory for democracy’, Adam Price MS will advocate a series of further reforms to deepen and accelerate the democratic transformation of the Senedd.
In the speech, Price will propose a series of ‘radical ideas’ to improve the institution’s capacity and culture, and civic education. He will argue that Senedd reform should be seen as a response to the global crisis in democracy, and that the agenda should be used to secure greater participation in our democracy by Welsh citizens.
Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre will host the keynote address by Adam Price, Plaid Cymru MS for Carmarthen East & Dinefwr, at the Senedd Cymru on October 12th.
The free event is open to all and will start at 18:00 at Neuadd y Senedd. Registration for places is available here, and the speech will be of particular interest to those interested in democratic reform, parliamentary scrutiny and the Welsh constitution.
