HealthWise Wales - bringing together healthcare receiving public and public health researchers
11 September 2023
This summer the HealthWise Wales website and data collection platform has been completely rebuilt to offer a better user experience and functionality and was recently relaunched.
This hails the beginning of a new phase of recruitment of both new participants and new researchers whose common goal is to improve health in Wales.
Established by researchers at Cardiff University in 2015 and initially funded by Welsh Government, HealthWise Wales’ vision is to support health and social care research in Wales by bringing together the healthcare receiving public and public health researchers.
HealthWise Wales is foremost a registry, currently of over 40,000 altruistic participants who have consented to be contacted about opportunities to take part in surveys and other types of public health research.
Those of us who have ever tried to recruit even small numbers of eligible participants to research projects, know the huge value of having a research-ready register of participants to draw from.
For participants, the value of being part of HealthWise Wales lies in being offered opportunities to take part in high quality research that tackles important health issues and has the potential to positively impact real lives.
The service is available to all researchers within the School of Medicine (charges apply).
