Committed professionals who joined a DSV future leaders programme have helped strengthen ties between Cardiff University and the global transport and logistics giant.

The Danish company, which has a long-standing partnership with Cardiff University’s PARC Institute, is preparing talented young staff for future management roles.

The Solutions Accelerate Programme provided an end-of-course residential week of training at Cardiff University with lectures on transport management, the circular economy and sustainability, forecasting plus inventory and production.

Accelerate Programme board member, Ralph Schouren, DSV, presented each student with a diploma for completing the programme.

Ralph said: “High quality learning and skills development formed the bedrock of our first-ever Accelerate Programme, which has been purpose-built to equip our young leaders with the knowledge, skills and business acumen needed to shape the DSV of the future. The resounding success of this event means a new class of young professionals from DSV offices around the world have already started on their journey with the next Accelerate Programme, and we wish them the best of luck!”

The cohort attended assessments, training and presentations at the University, including a visit to RemakerSpace and the PARC Institute of Manufacturing, Logistics and Inventory.

The five days concluded with the award of certificates and a congratulatory closing speech from Professor Rachel Ashworth, Head and Dean of Cardiff Business School, followed by an ‘end of class’ celebration and networking.

Professor Ashworth said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to meet with some of the committed graduates on the programme and celebrate their achievements. The programme provides a fantastic opportunity for participants and also serves as a further demonstration of the ever-deepening partnership between the Business School and DSV.”

Professor Aris Syntetos, Director of PARC and RemakerSpace, Cardiff Business School, added: "We, at the PARC Institute of Cardiff Business School, were delighted to host the first Accelerate cohort, and it was a pleasure to design and deliver a week-long course around key areas of our expertise as well as engage them in the work we are doing in the RemakerSpace.

“Working with people in industry and influencing real world practices is the raison d'être of PARC, and we look forward to welcoming future cohorts of Accelerate to our University.”

The PARC Institute and RemakerSpace are dedicated to creating a sustainable world by finding circular economic solutions to society’s grand challenges, bridging the gap between theory and practice in logistics and manufacturing operations management.
