Multisector Pharmacist Toolkit goes Live
10 January 2023
CUREMeDE and Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) have launched a co-developed online toolkit to aid employers in getting the most from multisector-trained, newly qualified pharmacists (NQPs).
The toolkit was created in response to the move that sees all Foundation pharmacists in Wales undergo multisector training. CUREMeDE’s recent research has highlighted the benefits of multisector training but also identified concerns surrounding such pharmacists' preparedness-for-practice and service contribution.
To address this issue, CUREMeDE conducted a series of knowledge exchange events with experienced pharmacists from across primary and secondary care. The discussions informed the development of a toolkit to provide a step-by-step approach to help employers and supervisors get the most from multi-sector trained pharmacists, and support these pharmacists as they transition from trainee to registrant.
We invite you to access the online toolkit via the following links:
After using the toolkit, users will be able to:
- Recognise the benefits of multisector Foundation training
- Know how to identify gaps in an NQP’s skillset
- Know how to appropriately support a multisector-trained NQP
- Know techniques to improve your return on investment as a multisector Foundation training site.
This toolkit complements our recently released Integrating Pharmacists into General Practice Settings toolkit.
