Creative writing student writes and performs at festival

Keith Butler has studied three creative writing courses with Cardiff University’s Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). This inspired him to write and perform at the Stroud Theatre Festival in September.

Keith, who is 76 and lives in Cardiff, had written Look through any Window by the time he had enrolled on his third course. Keith commented:

“I was writing shopping lists and text messages until I joined an online creative writing course. The structure of the course, the encouragement of Briony Goffin, my tutor, and the feedback of my fellow students built my confidence until I felt that not only had I something worth saying but, more importantly, something worth listening to. I gradually believed that I was a writer – not an imposter.”

Keith is performing at Stroud Valley Artspace, John Street, Stroud, GL5 1AE on Saturday 17 September at 18:00 and on Sunday 18 September at 15:30.
