Top ten in the Complete University Guide
19 July 2022
The Complete University Guide 2023 has named Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture as one of the UK’s top ten Communication and Media Studies schools in the UK.
The guide placed the school in ninth place out of ninety-seven media schools, two places higher than the previous year.
According to a 2021 applicant survey, the Complete University Guide was by far the most important league table for applicants making their final decision.
This year’s result is the first league table to use the results of the recent Research Excellence Framework, where the school retained its position as the UK’s second-best school for research quality.
The Complete University Guide places more emphasis on university research because this has a direct impact on student learning.
The result also comes hot on the heels of April’s QS University World Ranking by Subject, which identified the school as the third best school in the UK for Communication and Media Studies – and twenty-second globally.
Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr John Jewell, praised the results as yet another indicator of the school’s ability to provide a high level of both teaching and student experience.
He said, “Our strong position in the Complete University Guide 2023 reflects both our investment in facilities and the effort of our staff every day to ensure their teaching delivers for our students.”
“Even as one academic year draws to a close, we start to prepare for the next and the opportunity to welcome another cohort of students to Cardiff.”
