5 May 2022
Professor Rachel Ashworth, Dean of Cardiff Business School and Professor of Public Services Management, has been elected a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales, the national academy for the arts and sciences.
Receiving a Fellowship is a public recognition of excellence in the field of learning. Professor Ashworth is one of 66 new Fellows elected to the Society this year.
Nomination is a thorough process which sees candidates progressing through a rigorous process of assessment. Once elected, Fellows are lifelong members.
Professor Ashworth has been Dean and Head of School since September 2018. Her research focuses on organizational and institutional change in the public sector; scrutiny and accountability in public services; and equality and diversity in public organisations.
Professor Hywel Thomas, President of the Society said: “The expertise of our new Fellows is outstanding. The range of research shows that Wales is well-placed to meet the environmental, technological, social, cultural, political and health challenges we face.
“The Society’s ability to bring together this talent allows us to initiate and influence important debates about how Wales, the UK and the world can navigate the turbulent waters we are in today. I am most pleased that 50% of our new Fellows are women.”
The Learned Society was founded in 2010, with the aim of celebrating and encouraging excellence in all scholarly disciplines, promoting learning and scholarship and the dissemination of excellence in Welsh research.
