Call for Participants: Devolved Elections Summer School

28 April 2022

The teams behind the Welsh and Scottish Election Studies are hosting the first Devolved Election Summer School for researchers and academics across the UK. The school is targeted at PhD students whose research focuses on territorial aspects of politics and election in the UK and further afield.

The first Summer School will take place online on Zoom over two days on 26th-27th May. In the mornings there will be a series of short lectures by members of the teams. In the afternoons, participants will present their own work (this can be a research proposal, working paper, chapter thesis etc.) and receive comments and feedback from other participants and the Devolved Election Study teams.

Participants will also be assigned a mentor to discuss further research once the school has finished.

All participants will be invited to a further in-person event in early 2023 to present updated/new research and access new data. Accommodation and travel subsidies for this event are available.

To Apply

Please submit your one-page proposal by 16th May 2022 to larnerJM@cardiff.ac.uk. The application should include your name, the name of your supervisor, the university you are enrolled in, when you started your PhD, and a short abstract of the paper you want to present (including its theoretical contribution and empirical design).

Participation is limited to 15 students. If more applications are received than available places, students will be made of decisions by 18th May at the latest.
