The Best British PowerPoint for Chinese in 2022

On 27 March, Ling He from the Cardiff Confucius Institute was presented with the best PowerPoint award at the UK Mandarin teaching Championship Final.

2022 was the first competition organised by the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) UK and involved 19 winners from the five regional competitions. Ling He had taken first place in the UK Mandarin Teaching Championship for Wales in March 2021, and former Cardiff CI tutor Linyan Tian was awarded second prize.

The competition was held online, with each participant presenting a 15-minute Chinese ‘micro-class’ and answering live questions from the judges. First prize was taken by Yiwen Huang, a former tutor from the Confucius Institute at UWTSD (University of Wales Trinity St David), and our Wales China Schools Project partner.

Fang Xiao, a judge at the competition, said: “Both winners demonstrated impressive primary Mandarin lessons so tutors from the Wales China Schools Project definitely stood out in the competition.”
