Northern Ireland election event announced
7 April 2022
Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre has announced a webinar on the Northern Ireland Assembly elections.
The online event, to be held on Tuesday 26th April at 16:00, will assess the electoral state of play and political implications of what could be the most significant Northern Ireland election since the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.
With opinion polling underlining the potential for significant political change at Stormont, the webinar will hear from a panel of experts who will examine the election race and give their verdict on what might come next.
The implications for a united Ireland, the UK union, and the shifts within nationalism and unionism will be analysed and discussed by WGC Acting Director Dan Wincott, Joanne McEvoy (University of Aberdeen), Colin Harvey and Katy Hayward (both of Queen’s University Belfast), who are key voices on both UK and Irish politics.
The pre-election event will later be complemented by a post-election event held by Cardiff University’s School of Law and Politics, with details to be announced soon.
Registration for this pre-election webinar is open not only to academics and researchers but to all with an interest in this vital election, and is available at this link.
