Grange Pavilion launch - save the date!
5 April 2022
The Grange Pavilion is a £1.8 million redevelopment of a former Bowls Pavilion and will officially launch on Saturday 21 May 2022 between 10:00 - 17:00.
Now under a 99-year Community Asset Transfer lease from Cardiff Council, the Grange Pavilion is the result of a collaboration which began ten years ago between Grangetown residents’ group Grange Pavilion Project, Cardiff University’s Community Gateway, and Grangetown Community Action. The Grange Pavilion Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) is now constituted with 60% resident membership and 40% partner organisations Cardiff University, Cardiff Bay Rotary Club, Cardiff and Vale College, Taff Housing, and RSPB Cymru.
The Grange Pavilion opened in 2020 under Covid restrictions with an online launch film celebrating what the Grange Pavilion means to those who developed and use it. The Grange Pavilion is now proving its value in creating ‘a vibrant friendly community facility at the heart of Grangetown, where people of all backgrounds can connect and are made welcome’ (Grange Pavilion Project Mission Statement 2016). The Grange Pavilion is home to social enterprise café The Hideout, the Grange Pavilion Youth Forum CIC, and regular activities including Grangetown World Market, adult and child education and social groups, ESOL classes, fitness classes, creative groups a gardening group, Careers and Role model week, and multiple teaching and research activities with schools, colleges and universities.
Join us on Saturday 21 May 2022 between 10:00-17:00, for a day of music, dance, sports, spoken word, activities and partnership stalls as we celebrate with all those who have supported the Grange Pavilion over the last decade.
