We have worked with research institutes and centres to create sessions exploring critical success factors to rescue, revive and renew following the COVID-19 pandemic, and which look at areas of up-skilling, re-skilling and new-skilling.
We have 14 sessions available to book, including sessions on topics as diverse as electric vehicles, the impact of the creative economy, and the mysterious world of semiconductors.
Our Summer School runs from 13 to 23 June, and is completely free to attend. Registrations are now closed for this programme.

THE FUTURE OF SKILLS IN THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION Professor Phillip Brown | Centre for Innovation Policy Research (CIPR) | WEDNESDAY 22 JUNE 14:00 - 15:00 | It is widely believed that digital disruption is transforming all aspects of the economy and society. This disruption is seen to be driven by advances across interdisciplinary fields leading to technological breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, additive manufacturing, synthetic biology, smart materials, etc. Media reports of these advances have highlighted the prospect of mass technological unemployment resulting from workplace automation. But such concerns have been a feature of all previous industrial revolutions. So what is so significant or ‘revolutionary’ about today’s developments in digital innovation? This session explores different interpretations of the fourth industrial revolution and the role of digital technologies in (re)shaping the future of work, education, and labour markets. Professor Brown will present a theory of ‘job scarcity’ rather than ‘labour scarcity’, which does not signal the end of work, but the need for a fundamental reassessment of current public policy. |
