Nadila Hussein joins the Community Gateway team as Student Ambassador

Nadila Hussein has recently joined the Community Gateway team, taking over from Nirushan Sudarsan as Student Ambassador for the project. We had a chat with Nadila to find out a little bit more about her and what she is most looking forward to in her new role.

Hi everyone, I’m Nadila Hussein and I am a third year international relations and politics student at Cardiff University. I am an avid netball player and the President of Cardiff Universities Somali Society. I have grown up in Cardiff and am passionate about youth political education and engagement.

I first heard about the Community Gateway project back in 2020 through my Mother who works in the local area. This led to by involvement in an open day organised by the project and following that I attended some events at Grange Pavilion and now have the role of Student Ambassador for the project.

I think I’m most looking forward to being able to be fully involved in the Grangetown community and getting to be able to expand my activism and network and I'm also really looking forward to doing some work with the Youth Forum as well as being able to do something around youth political engagement in the upcoming local elections in May.
