Welsh History expert joins board of major project in Merthyr
Reader in Welsh History Dr Marion Loeffler brings industrial history expertise to an initiative focusing on an industrial heritage themed tourism attraction at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr.
She joins the Cyfartha Foundation board alongside specialists in architecture, heritage, landscape architecture and sustainability: Dr Carol Bell, Geoff Hunt, Sir Simon Jenkins, Ewan Jones, Hanif Kara, Robert Rummey and Sara Turnbull.
The foundation’s 20-year plan envisages an international quality museum and art gallery set in an expanded 100-hectare public park with the potential capacity to attract nearly half a million visitors a year. It also aims to place social renewal and community engagement at its heart.
Historians from the School of History, Archaeology and Religion regularly lend their expertise on a number of national bodies and boards for the benefit of wider society.
