ThermoFisher 2021

GCLP reaccreditation

Following a successful remote audit in July, we are proud to announce that we have been reaccredited until July 2023 for Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP). This accreditation complements our ISO 9001:2015 certification.

GCLP is an established international quality system for laboratories that analyse samples from clinical trials in accordance with global Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations, ensuring the quality and reliability of the clinical trial data generated by the laboratory. Check out the Qualogy GCLP homepage to find out more about this accreditation.

We continue to be keen to increase our work supporting both internal and external clinical trials. Please contact us to discuss how we can work together in this field.

Quality management is your friend!

We were pleased to be invited to speak about how an effective Quality Management System (QMS) can benefit core facilities at the recent Core Technologies for Life Sciences (see to the right!) congress. Benefits of having a QMS in place include enabling external market opportunities where accreditation is a pre-qualification and evidencing the commitment to transparency, traceability, reliability and continual improvement. QMS Software (such as Q-Pulse) also enables all key business and scientific documentation to be stored in one place making it easy to find by the whole team. Quality management really is your friend!

Want to learn about Core Technologies for Life Sciences?

Core Technologies for Life Sciences (CTLS) is a networking non-profit association that brings together scientists, technical and administrative staff working in core facilities, research infrastructures and other shared resource laboratories. At CBS we are very active in this association, with members in three of the working groups and dual representation on the Executive Council.

Explore the CTLS website to learn more about this association and what it does to support the many people who work in core facilities across the world.

Flow cytometry training

We are hosting a series of flow cytometry training webinars by Dr Graham Bottley at InCytometry from 18th to 22nd October. Click on the links below for more information and to register:

Please note that to cover the cost of providing this training, there is a £25 fee to attend each of these webinars (apart from the Advanced Flow Cytometry webinar which is free to attend). You will be invoiced by CBS after attending.

We continue to arrange training sessions on a wide range of topics to support researchers both inside and outside Cardiff University. Please contact us if you want to catch up on missed webinars or have any enquiries about upcoming training sessions.

Nanostring Technologies

We are thrilled that the GeoMx Digital Spacial Profiler and nCounter Analysis System are coming to Cardiff University! This is thanks to a successful bid led by Dr Hywel Williams to the Research Infrastructure Fund (RIF). The nCounter will be housed in CBS and in time we look forward to offering this to you via both user access and as a managed service. We will keep you posted on this exciting news!
