Programme Director of the MA in Social Work, Abyd Quinn Aziz, has been appointed to the editorial board of The British Journal of Social Work (BJSW).

BJSW is the UK’s leading social work journal and has international reach. It covers every aspect of social work, with papers reporting research, discussing practice, and examining principles and theories, reflecting perspectives both nationally and internationally.

It is read by social work educators, researchers, practitioners and managers who wish to keep up to date with theoretical and empirical developments in the field.

Abyd Quinn Aziz joins Dr Alyson Rees from the MA Social Work team on the editorial board. He brings with him 42 years of experience to the journal, including experience in practicing social care, chairing child protection conferences, family group conferencing and several years as the Programme Director of our MA in Social Work programme.

BJSW helps inform, encourage debate and supports policy making on all areas of social work.  It is published 8 times a year and will have a fast track option to respond to time sensitive articles.

Of his appointment to the board, Abyd said: “The journal is used by academics and researchers and is recommended to student social workers in the hope they will continue to access it when in practice. I was invited to bring my experience of encouraging a diversity of contributions such as what we achieved with the online Social Work During Covid magazine which published articles by academics, practitioners, students and people who used services.

"I am also pleased that the panel is becoming more racially diverse and am I looking forward to bringing new perspectives to BJSW.”
