Chemistry students swap lab coats for dinner jackets

The annual Chemistry Society Ball was held on the 12^th April 2016. Undergraduate students from all years, as well as postgraduates and academic staff filled the Grand Hall of the National Museum Cardiff to mark the end of a busy semester with a masquerade-themed ball.

The evening at the Museum consisted of a three course meal, drinks and an in-house DJ to dance the night away. With fantastic food and drinks and a great atmosphere, the elegantly marbled Grand Hall set the scene for a perfect evening for all; a chance for chemistry students to swap their lab coats for dinner jackets and to spend time with friends celebrating the end of exams and assignments, at least for a short time.

The annual ball is organised by the University’s Chemistry Society (ChemSoc), which is entirely made up of student volunteers from the School, and is a highlight of the Society’s social calendar. Along with the ball, ChemSoc also put on a variety of other events which enable students of all years and programmes to interact with one another and exchange ideas and experiences. These activities help to develop and strengthen the relationships that knit together our School community and make it an enjoyable place to study and work.

We’d like to thank the organisers of this year’s event on behalf of all the students and staff who attended for their hard work in making the evening a resounding success.
