New: Critical Care short courses

We are delighted to announce that the School of Medicine's Critical Care courses are back for 2024 - with a brand new course on nutrition as part of the programme!
The suite of courses covers Rehabilitation Of The Critically Ill, Sepsis, Obstetrics, Organ Donation and Nutrition. The courses are suitable for healthcare professionals working in critical care. These are self-directed learning courses, comprising approximately 7-10 study hours each. Content will be available all week for you to work through at your own pace. Each course will include a live element by the Critical Care team.
Nutrition and the critically ill (online)
The aim of this course is to provide you with evidence and guidance around nutrition and the critically ill.
Course fee: £60
Care of the critically ill obstetrics patient (online)
Care for this patient group is complex, and incidents are increasing; a recent study finding that 10% of pregnant women needed level 3 critical care during the first wave of COVID-19, and the UK NHS identified 20% of Critical Care COVID-19 admissions as unvaccinated pregnant women (October 2021).

Rehabilitation of the critically ill (online)
This course is an introduction to caring for patients who have been critically ill.

Introduction to organ donation (online)
This course is an introduction to organ donation and includes topics such as consent, legal and ethical frameworks, and best practice.

Introduction to sepsis (online)
This course explores sepsis, including signs and symptoms, screening, and guidelines for management.
