The School of Music has remained in the top 10 Music departments in the UK in the Times Good University Guide 2021 for the fifth year in a row.

The School performed excellently in student experience, achieving the fourth highest score in the UK, and retained a top-10 position for teaching quality.

Cardiff University also performed well, retaining its position as 34th in the UK and ranking as Wales’ top university.

In recent months, the School also moved up the rankings in the Guardian University Guide to 15th place.

Dedication to upholding the quality of the student experience, despite uncertainty and disruption in recent months, also led to the School achieving an excellent 92% overall satisfaction rate in this year’s National Student Survey.

Professor Kenneth Hamilton, Head of the School of Music, said of this year’s results: “Ranking in the top 10 Music departments in the UK is always a welcome recognition of the hard work we do at the School. This is even more true given the difficulties we have faced this year. We hope to be able to continue to uphold our excellent rate of student satisfaction and hopefully uphold our outstanding position next year.”
