League table success for health professions

Cardiff University, School of Healthcare Sciences has cemented its place as one of the leading institutions for its health subjects in Wales and in the UK.
The Complete University Guide ranks over 130 UK universities on entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects and is used by a large number of university applicants to help inform their decisions.
Some areas have seen spectacular improvements within The Complete University Guide 2021 compared to the 2020 rankings. The School has seen a rise of 9 places to 3rd in the UK for Nursing programmes, Occupational Therapy has secured it’s place as 1st in the UK rising from 2nd place in 2020, and Radiography and Midwifery programmes have also placed highly under their categories of Medical Technology and Nursing.

Grace Thomas, Head of Midwifery added "I’m absolutely delighted to see our Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons) programme improve its ranking to 1st in the UK this year*. The results are testament to the commitment and expertise of our Midwifery team; to the support of all the wider team in the School; and to the dedication of our exceptional students and the staff who mentor them in clinical placement learning. Our goal is to educate skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate and respectful Midwives who provide quality, safe care for women, newborn babies and families. It is brilliant to see our collaborative work rewarded. I am beyond proud.”
This positions the University’s health subjects as some of the top in the UK. Among the programmes ranked highly are:
- Nursing ranked 1st in England & Wales and 3rd in the UK
- Midwifery ranked 1st in the UK (*as an institution offering Midwifery under the category of Nursing).
- Occupational Therapy ranked 1st in the UK.
- Physiotherapy ranked 1st in Wales and 3rd in the UK.
- Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging ranked 1st in the UK (*as an institution offering Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging under the category of Medical Technology).
- Radiotherapy and Oncology ranked 1st in the UK (*as an institution offering Radiotherapy and Oncology under the category of Medical Technology).
