Chemistry Student Mohanad Hanafy elected as VP for Education

The School of Chemistry is delighted to announce that Chemistry Student Mohanad Hanafy has been elected as the new Students’ Union Vice President for Education. The elections are held every year to elect a team of officers and other representatives who will lead the Union during the next academic year. Their role is to represent the interests and rights of all students to the Union, University and local community.

The Students' Union is a democratic membership organisation. Which means that every decision made, is by students at Cardiff University. The Students' Union is led by groups such as Elected Officers, Campaign Officers, Student Senate, Scrutiny Committee and NUS delegates.

In his election manifest Mohanad stated: “I am a Student Representative/Chair, part of two college-wide review committees, radio host, football captain and I run a small business. I have already managed to give my school a voice in the future plans of this university!”

Following the successful election campaign, Mohanad stated: “Being a student rep in a school that actively listens to its students’ feedback, has proved to me that the students’ voice combined with the staff’s expertise can have a great impact and help to make this university an even better place. This is what motivated me to become the VP for Education, because now I can be the catalyst for even greater improvements across the whole university, and not just my school.”
