MSc Psychology conversion course launched

To meet the growing demand for postgraduate study in psychology, the School of Psychology has launched an innovative master's conversion course that enables people to pursue a career in psychology after completing an unrelated undergraduate degree.

Students on the one-year course will be embedded into an active research environment and will study psychology from a scientific standpoint with an emphasis on its social, cognitive and biological aspects. Students can also expect to develop critical skills to explain human behaviour, and begin to set the foundations in understanding nature’s most complex and fascinating creation – the human mind.

Psychology is a broad discipline and psychologists are employed in a wide range of sectors. To ensure students are exposed to working in a professional setting, a 12-week placement forms part of the course. This provides the unique opportunity for students to gain invaluable experience working with professional psychologists in a clinical, lab-based or organisational environment.

Upon completion of the course, students will be on the same point in the pathway towards becoming a psychologist as those who studied an undergraduate psychology degree.
