The Anglo-Thai Society hosted the presentation of the 2015 Educational Awards at the Office of Educational Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy, London on Friday 27th November 2015.
These annual awards recognise outstanding Thai PhD students in the final stages of their research who have demonstrated excellent performance during their study time in the UK. There were 5 categories of the awards: pure science, medical science, engineering and technology, environment, law and health and social science. A major criterion of the awards included the contribution of the research to Thailand and to the world. The panel of judges consisted of distinguished academics from different areas of expertise.
Congratulations to Thirayost Nimmanon (Tony), a PhD student of Dr. Kathryn Taylor from the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, with his project “the study of cellular mechanisms of zinc transporters,” who was the 2015 award winner in the Medical Science category.
Dr. Taylor said ‘Tony has been an exceptional student who thoroughly deserved this honour and we are all very pleased that he was chosen for this prestigious award’
