Manos Stellakis

Manos Stellakis, an expert consultant for the Welsh School of Architecture, has been appointed External Examiner to the postgraduate programme Professional Practice in Architecture at Queen’s University Belfast.

The appointment is for a period of four years from October 2019, taking over from Professor Soo Ware of the Bartlett School of Architecture.

Manos is a key member of the course team of the WSA’s Master of Design Administration and the Diploma Professional Practice, acting as expert consultant to these courses, which includes advising on strategic matters, delivering seminars and workshops, and providing feedback to students. In particular he manages the popular feasibility study workshop for the Industry Context module and the International module of the MDA, and runs seminars on Procurement and on the DPP’s Case Study and Career Evaluation.

He is co-author, with Professor Sarah Lupton, of the recently published sixth edition of Which Contract, and has also co-authored books on performance specification and legislation. He is currently researching a new book on professional services contracts and has been a partner in Lupton Stellakis since 1984.

Manos said of his new role:

‘I very much lookforward to my appointment at QUB, and working with the course director Tarla MacGabhann. I have been involved in teaching and examining in a wide range of schools of Architecture, including at the Welsh School, the AA, the Bartlett, and Westminster. It will be very interesting to see how the Professional Practice course is run at Queen’s and to apply my experience to the role of External Examiner.’

The Welsh School of Architecture’s Diploma Professional Practice is directed by Professor Sarah Lupton, who also directs the new Master of Design Administration.

Sarah is happy to answer queries on either programme, please email lupton@cardiff.ac.uk.
