6 November 2015
Cardiff School of Biosciences scooped two awards at the Celebrating Excellence Awards ceremony. The winners of this year's Celebrating Excellence Awards were announced at a dinner and presentation in the Park Plaza hotel, Cardiff on 5th November.
The Celebrating Excellence Awards reward individual, team and collaborative achievements through a range of award categories, and recognise the contributions made by staff working in every area of the University's activities.
Dr Hannah Shaw received the ‘Rising Star’ award. This award recognises an individual member of staff who has substantially grown in their role within a relatively short period of time, having initiated, coordinated and/or accomplished complex activity within or on behalf of Cardiff University.
Dr Steve Rutherford received the ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award, which recognises the breadth and diversity of teaching, training and development within Cardiff University and covered aspects including individual excellence (promoting and transforming the student learning experience, stimulating and inspiring learning), enhancing staff development, raising the profile of excellence, and commitment to staff or student ongoing development.
Commenting on these awards, the Head of School Professor Jim Murray, said ‘I am delighted that both our finalists, Dr Hannah Shaw and Dr Steve Rutherford won their categories - Hannah as Rising Star, and Steve for Excellence in Teaching. Both were against extremely strong competition, and both highly deserved. It's a fantastic achievement both for themselves and the School and I’m sure you will join me in congratulating them!’
