Graduate appointed to lead top London firm
7 August 2019
The School was delighted to learn of Katie Parfitt’s appointment to Office Principal (London) of TODD Architects, one of the AJ’s top 100 UK Practices, with offices in Belfast, Dublin and London.
Katie was appointed to head its Fitzrovia branch, developing new clients as well as running the office and working with colleagues on exciting projects. It is particularly impressive that Katie achieved this within 6 years of graduating from our Diploma Professional Practice (RIBA Part 3), and 4 years after becoming associate at Stride Treglown. Katie said:
“My postgraduate studies at Cardiff were a great experience and prepared me for my future career plans in several ways. Through the course structure I was able to develop my Communication skills, Creative skills, Analytical skills and Management skills.
The course consists of a series of onsite courses, seminars and tutorials whilst working in practice, where you gain an in-depth knowledge of practice management, legal, economical and procurement practice. There is regular contact time with the tutors as well as constant support on the coursework. The cohort is small, I think we had 11 ladies on ours! The size of the group enables focused group working outside of the course hours.
This focused learning, group size and continuous support was invaluable for my development and aided with my career development.”
The Diploma Professional Practice is directed by Professor Sarah Lupton, who also directs the new Master of Design Administration.
Sarah is happy to answer queries on either programme, please email lupton@cardiff.ac.uk.
