University promoted to US audience
26 June 2019
Cardiff University’s strengths as a study destination for US students have been highlighted as part of a programme to promote Welsh higher education.
Fifteen US-based education consultants visited the University to find out more about courses, facilities, opportunities, the student experience and the country itself.
The visit was part of Universities Wales’ Global Wales project to provide strategic support to Welsh universities in a number of target markets worldwide.
The consultants, who advise potential students in the US, have also toured other Welsh universities, with more visits planned next year.
Pat Cosh, Regional Manager, Americas, in Cardiff University’s International Office, said: “The day was a real success, and it was great to welcome these advisers and influencers to Cardiff.
“The visit gave them an insight into study opportunities at Cardiff, and was also an opportunity to provide information on admissions procedures, financial considerations and the student experience in Wales as a whole.
“I’m sure the visitors will return home to become ambassadors for Welsh higher education in the USA, and to spread the good news about study opportunities in Wales, both to students and within the education counsellor community.”
The day at Cardiff began with a welcome to the University and an overview of the history and profile of the institution.
The group were given tours of Cardiff Catalysis Institute and the School of Architecture, where they visited the sky dome facility.
After lunch, Professor Ken Hamilton, head of the School of Music, performed a piano recital for the visitors.
