Record numbers for Project Management Alumni briefing
8 March 2019
This week, we hosted the first morning briefing of the 2019 Project Management Alumni calendar. We were delighted to welcome so many new and familiar faces to what was an interesting and timely discussion of Managing Projects in Changing Times.
We had three speakers at the event, each discussing the challenges and opportunities of project and programme management in volatile and changing environments. Leighton Andrews of Cardiff Business School began the session with a discussion of the political environment and why adaptability matters. Richard Rose of Richard A Rose Associates spoke about why long-term planning is a thing of the past and the importance of employing Agile project management techniques. Our final guest was Richard Lewis of Centrica, who provided a very practical, industry-led point of view of Agile practices and why it's so important to be flexible in business.
You can view the footage of the event here.
It was also a great opportunity for a wide range of professionals in the project management field to network and share ideas over a coffee and pastries - despite the early start, we heard some interesting discussions around the room!
Thank you to all who attended, to our three speakers, and to the team at the Executive Education suite at the Postgraduate Teaching Centre, Cardiff Business School for the kind use of the venue.
We're delighted that this event proved to be very popular and tickets sold out. Although tickets for the briefing were open to all, priority booking was available to members of our Project Management Alumni Network. Membership of our Alumni Network is free and exclusive to anyone who has attended one of our project management CPD courses. Other benefits of (free) membership to our Alumni Network include exclusive promotions and discounts and invitations to other relevant Cardiff University events.
