Professor to lead RIBA Contracts CPD Days
1 February 2019
Professor Sarah Lupton is running a series of one-day CPD workshops across the UK on behalf of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The workshops will introduce architects and other built environment professionals to the RIBA’s new suite of Professional Services Contracts, the RIBA Building Contracts and the new Construction Industry Council (CIC) suite of Collateral Warranties and Novation Agreements.
During each workshop, Professor Lupton will look at selecting the appropriate appointment document and building contract for a variety of procurement arrangements. She will explore key terms within all the documents and the effect they have on risk distribution between the parties and the level and extent of the professional’s liability. She will also examine the use of novation agreements and collateral warranties, and the relationship between these documents and the professional services contracts.
Professor Lupton will run nine one-day workshops as part of the RIBA CPD programme. The workshops will take place across the UK. Please visit the RIBA Contracts CPD webpage for more information and how to book.
Professor Lupton leads the Welsh School of Architecture’s Diploma in Architecture: Professional Practice (the RIBA Part 3 programme), and the Master of Design Administration. She is a partner in Lupton Stellakis architects and a Chartered Arbitrator, adjudicator and expert witness with extensive links with the construction industry and the architectural profession. She is currently chair of the CIC Liability Panel, the CIC Liability Champion, and a member of the RIBA President’s Advisory Committee on Dispute Resolution.
