Placement student returns for final year with an award on her mantel
24 September 2015
Olivia Witt, a final year BSc Business Management student, returns to the lecture theatre this month having achieved considerable success during her placement year with Lidl.
Olivia completed the Lidl 48 Week Undergraduate Placement Programme and was named the winner of the Lidl Placement Student of the Year 2015.
During her placement year Olivia was introduced to, and participant in, modern retailing and business practices from Stock Management to Human Resources and Personnel Management.
Speaking about her placement and the award win, Olivia said: “The placement has been an invaluable experience. The theoretical background and context provided during my undergraduate studies has been enriched by frontline practical experience. During the placement year I have assumed numerous responsibilities and had the opportunity to lead my own projects, all while building my professional network and developing my business skills set.
“I’m returning to Cardiff for my final year with a deeper understanding of the industry and a keener sense of what I want to do and where I want to go after graduating.”
Alex Hicks, Cardiff Business School’s Placements Managers, added: “This is a fantastic achievement and Olivia should be rightly proud of her success during this placement year. As a School we recognise how competitive the jobs market is and are committed to supporting our students by providing excellent opportunities for practical work experience. This gives them the chance to develop their skills and gain an insight in to the business world before completing their studies.”
