The School of Chemistry welcomes new staff member Professor Davide Bonifazi
2 September 2015
The School of Chemistry is very pleased to welcome a new member onto the academic staff. Professor Davide Bonifazi joins us as Chair of Organic Supramolecular Chemistry, moving from the Department of Chemistry, University of Namur in Belgium.
Davide’s group research focuses on the demonstration of key functions through the development of novel organic supramolecular architectures, aiming to achieve interdisciplinary solutions to current scientific challenges. Specifically, his work exploits the newest synthetic organic approaches and carbon-based nanostructure chemistry. The approach is used to design and prepare hierarchized nano-structured organic architectures of interest in materials science, carbon-based nano-medicine, self-assembly of hybrid architectures at interfaces, and physical-organic studies.
He has an internationally leading reputation, and his current topics of interest include:
- Supramolecular Organic Nanochemistry
- Biomimetic nanostructured surfaces
- New emissive heteroatom-doped p-conjugated scaffoldings
- Advanced materials based on carbon nanostructures
Professor Bonifazi is just the most recent of a number of newly appointed academic staff as the School continues to grow; opening up new research opportunities and delivering enhanced student experience and excellence in teaching.
