Staff enthusiasm and teaching highly rated by students in the National Student Survey

The results of the 2015 National Student Survey (NSS) show that 94% of our undergraduate students were satisfied with the teaching on their course in the School of English, Communication and Philosophy.

Published annually, the NSS asks undergraduates to rate their University experience in areas including teaching, academic support and personal development.

The School also scored well in terms of organisation and management; 92% of students agreed that their course was well organised and ran smoothly while 98% of students felt staff explained things well.

The School’s 94% score in teaching was echoed in student perception that staff were enthusiastic about their subject. Efficiency of feedback and the detail of staff comments on submitted work achieved higher satisfaction rates than the University average.

Professor Martin Coyle says on behalf of the school: “Teaching is crucially important to us and we are delighted to see our strong results here.”

Cardiff University has also recorded its highest level of overall student satisfaction at 90%, above both the Welsh (85%) and sector-wide (86%) averages. The results also show a rise in satisfaction with Cardiff University Students’ Union cementing its place as one of the very best in the UK.
