History at Cardiff is joint 3rd in the Russell Group for overall student satisfaction

The results of the 2015 National Student Survey (NSS) show that overall satisfaction with History puts us in joint third place among Russell Group universities.

The results also show that 91% of our final year undergraduate students were satisfied with their overall experience at the School of History, Archaeology and Religion.

Published annually, the NSS asks undergraduates to rate their University experience in areas including teaching, academic support and personal development.

The School of History, Archaeology and Religion was rated extremely highly for teaching, achieving 96% satisfaction in this area, especially in relation to the following statements: 

• Staff are good at explaining things (97%)
• Staff are enthusiastic about what they are teaching (96%)
• The course is intellectually stimulating (96%)

Satisfaction with staff communication in terms of feedback and detailed comments on submitted work scored more highly than the University average.

Professor Chris Williams, Head of School, said: ‘These tremendous results are testament to the expertise of our historians and to their commitment to providing the highest quality teaching possible’.

Cardiff University has also recorded its highest level of overall student satisfaction at 90%, above both the Welsh (85%) and sector-wide (86%) averages. The results also show a rise in satisfaction with Cardiff University Students’ Union cementing its place as one of the very best in the UK.
