Academic Studies in Education tops the Russell Group table in National Student Survey

The results of the 2015 National Student Survey (NSS) show that the School of Social Sciences has come joint first for Education, both in the sector and the Russell group.

Overall satisfaction with Education studies was scored 100%. The School’s sector positioning has seen them climb 19 places since the 2014 results were announced. Social Policy has enjoyed similar success, coming joint second in Russell Group.

Published annually, the NSS asks undergraduates to rate their University experience in areas including teaching, academic support and personal development. The School has improved across all areas since the 2014 survey, achieving 91% in overall satisfaction.

Overall, 90% of undergraduate students are satisfied with their overall experience, according to the 2015 National Student Survey (NSS).

Students were highly satisfied with library and IT resources and services, and with the ways in which staff explained things. Performance in communicating changes in courses and/or teaching, course organisation and detailed work comments were above the University average. Satisfaction with teaching continued to rise and satisfaction with assessment and feedback shows considerable improvement.

Head of School Professor Amanda Coffey says: “I am pleased with the School’s NSS results for 2015. The improvement across all areas is testament to our commitment to improving the student experience. and to ensuring that our students make the most of their time with us in Cardiff."

Cardiff University has recorded its highest level of overall student satisfaction. 90% of students were satisfied with their overall experience.
