Swansong for former Dean
5 October 2018
Martin Kitchener, Professor of Public Sector Management and Policy at Cardiff University, has been presented with the honorary award at this year’s Leading Wales Awards.
The award, supported by Academi Wales, is recognition of Professor Kitchener transformational leadership of Cardiff Business School from 2012 -2018.
During his six-year term, Professor Kitchener put an ambitious new strategy at the heart of the School’s operations.
The world’s first
Developed through consultation with staff, students and the wider academic and business practitioner audience, the strategy outlines the School’s ambitions to deliver public value in the communities of Wales and the world.
Extraordinary leaders
Barbara Chidgey, Executive Chair of the Leading Wales Awards, said: “This year we focused on unearthing nominations from across Wales of individuals whose leadership is inspirational and transformational. Individuals whose leadership is contributing to the delivery of the goals of the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
“Wales may well be ‘the land of our fathers’, but if we are to ensure that it is also the ‘land of our grandchildren’ then it is essential to transform how we work, learn, look after ourselves, each other, our communities, our economy and our culture...”
Now in their 14th year, the prestigious Leading Wales Awards identify, recognise and celebrate individuals in Wales in all sectors and at all levels of responsibility whose leadership is making a real difference.
They are promoted by a Consortium who include CBI Wales, FSB Wales and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA).
