Milestone for Centre for Student Life
26 September 2018
Construction work has officially started on Cardiff University’s Centre for Student Life.
Cabinet Secretary for Education Kirsty Williams led a ground-cutting ceremony alongside Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan, Cardiff University Students’ Union President Fadhila Al Dhahouri and construction company BAM.
The Centre for Student Life, a partnership with the Students’ Union, will transform the way the University supports student life, including mental health and wellbeing.
This remarkable new home for student support services, alongside the Students’ Union, will offer consultation rooms, a 550-seat auditorium, additional social study spaces and quiet contemplation areas.
It will make services more inclusive, accessible and convenient alongside enhanced online resources and extended opening hours.
Improvements to services are already taking place, allowing students to benefit immediately, before the Centre is open.
The Centre, which is being built by BAM, is due to be finished in the 2020/21 academic year.
