Cardiff University is among the best universities for teaching excellence in Europe according to the inaugural THE Europe Teaching Rankings 2018.

Cardiff University is in 32nd place in the rankings which focuses on institutions’ teaching and learning environments for students.

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience and Academic Standards, Professor Amanda Coffey said: “We welcome the inaugural THE Europe Teaching Rankings. They provide an important perspective on students’ views across European Universities.

“We are pleased that the dedication of our staff to the student experience is recognised.

“As a University we are committed to ensuring an educationally outstanding and consistently high quality student experience, underpinned by excellent learning and teaching.

“Our students benefit from being in a research-rich educational environment and we continue to build on our investments in learning, teaching and the wider student experience, as key foundations of an educationally excellent offer for all.”

More than 240 universities across eight countries feature in the THE Europe Teaching Rankings 2018 with more than 30,000 university students surveyed.

Key questions included whether teaching supports critical thinking, whether classes challenge students and whether students have the opportunity to interact with staff.

Overall, eight countries feature in the new ranking: UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and the Republic of Ireland.
