Cardiff academic makes international shortlist

An English Literature academic from the School has made the international shortlist for the Allan Lloyd Smith Prize (Monograph shortlist) run by the International Gothic Association.
Senior Lecturer in English Literature Dr Becky Munford is one of four to be shortlisted in the esteemed prize for her book Decadent Daughters and Monstrous Mothers: Angela Carter and European Gothic(Manchester University Press).
Shortlisted are also Joseph Crawford for The Twilight of the Gothic? Vampire Fiction and the Rise of the Paranormal Romance, 1991-2012 (University of Wales Press), Bernice M. Murphy for The Rural Gothic in American Popular Culture (Palgrave) and Angela Wright for Britain, France and the Gothic, 1764-1820: The Import of Terror (Cambridge University Press).
The International Gothic Association (IGA) promotes the study and dissemination of information on gothic culture from the mid eighteenth century to the contemporary moment. For more on the IGA and the prize, see http://www.iga.stir.ac.uk
The winner will be announced at the International Gothic Association conference in Vancouver, Canada at the end of this month.
