Alumna Susanna Reid to receive Honorary Fellowship
13 July 2015
Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies alumna Susanna Reid will receive an Honorary Fellowship from Cardiff University at its annual degree ceremonies this week.
Susanna, whose career in journalism began in 1993 when she trained at the Centre for Journalism, will be recognised for her contribution to broadcasting.
Perhaps best known as the co-presenter of BBC Breakfast from 2003 until her departure in early 2014, she currently co-presents the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain.
Director of the Centre for Journalism, Professor Richard Sambrook, said "Susanna, is a rare example of someone who successfully combines serious journalism - reporting from war zones, interviewing prime ministers - with the celebrity elements of TV."
"In doing so she engages a wide range of viewers in the best traditions of popular journalism. We're proud to see a Cardiff Journalism graduate achieve such success."
After sharing her training year with ITV News' Wales at Six Presenter Jonathan Hill, Susanna began her career at BBC Radio Bristol and then became a reporter for Radio 5 Live, as well as a producer. She then joined BBC News 24, where she spent two years as a reporter and became a reporter for Breakfast News in 1998.
