15 June 2018
Sustainable Places Research Institute has been awarded gold in the Green Impact awards, at a ceremony held in Cardiff on 12 June 2018.
Green Impact is a behavioural change programme run by the NUS to help staff and students understand sustainability and social responsibility and actively create change through actions with evidence.
Teams made up of staff and students complete various criteria in their workplace environment and evidence these in electronic workbooks, with a focus on energy efficiency, waste and recycling, travel, wellbeing, community engagement and biodiversity including some specialist award themes.
The award scheme is structured to give Bronze, Silver and Gold which involves awareness raising, engagement and wider action through ingenuity and creativity.
This year saw the largest number of teams taking part so far, with 43 submitting from a wide range of disciplines across campuses for a variety of awards.
Cardiff University recently launched a new Environmental Sustainability Strategy which is one of the Enabling Strategies from The Way Forward 2018-2023. The strategy’s vision sees the University building an inclusive, sustainable and resilient future for our community and aims to bring about environmental benefits not only to Cardiff and Wales, but to the wider community.
