CUBRIC accolade in European awards
14 June 2018
Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) has picked up another design accolade, this time at the European Healthcare Awards.
CUBRIC, designed by IBI Group, was highly commended by the international judging panel in the Health and Life Sciences Design category.
The category was won by the London-based Francis Crick Institute, a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the biology underlying health and disease.
The awards celebrate and recognise professional excellence in the design of healthcare environments both in Europe and around the world.
This is the latest recognition for CUBRIC after success in various awards in 2017 including the Constructing Excellence in Wales Awards, the RICS Awards and the S-Lab Awards.
In addition, CUBRIC was runner up in the Buildings that Inspire category of the 2017 Guardian University Awards.
The centre is a world leader for research in areas such as psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience and is home to powerful MRI scanning facilities, brain stimulation equipment, sleep laboratories, modern offices and break-out spaces.
CUBRIC was opened by The Queen in 2016.
