Student Mentor Celebration Event
4 May 2018
The Student Mentor Scheme recently celebrated the successes of student mentors from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
This year, 3 students graduated from the scheme. Philippa Smith and Nia Jones were awarded the Student Mentor Certificate, and Amelia Huggons was presented with an Advanced Mentor Certificate.
Cardiff University’s Student Mentor Scheme recruits continuing undergraduate students to mentor small groups of first year students to transition more comfortably into university life. It is a rewarding opportunity for students to volunteer or give something back, make friends, and can enhance their CV.
At the celebration event, Professor Amanda Coffey, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student Experience and Academic Standards, commended the student mentors for their dedication and hard work, and thanked them for their positive contribution to the student experience.
To graduate as a student mentor, each student receives training and support so that they can fulfil their role successfully. They gain vital employability skills and all hours completed count towards the Cardiff Award.
