Seedcorn Bursary Funding 2018 - 1st call
17 January 2018
Congratulations to Dr Philippa Jones who has recently been successful in securing funding for her research project as part of the first call for the CITER Seedcorn bursary 2018. This bursary will fund a twelve month pilot project "developing machine learning techniques to enable objective monitoring of exercise rehabilitation and movement disorders”
It will allow for Philippa and her colleague to establish a new interdisciplinary collaboration between Cardiff University, the School of Engineering (specifically, the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Research Facility (MSKBRF) and the Centre for Trials Research (CTR) and the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at University College Dublin (UCD). Philippa and her colleague will visit the UCD on two occasions to be trained on the methods employed by the research team there including advanced feature selection and machine learning methods for inertial measurement units (IMU) and electromyography (EMG) data. Within the project timeframe, these new methods will be applied to the already collected data and written up as two journal papers and two conference abstracts.
If you wish to apply for the second call of the CITER Seedcorn bursary 2018 please note this call will be open in May 2018.
