School of Chemistry members honoured at the Enriching Student Life Awards 2015

The Students' Union hosted the prestigious annual Enriching Student Life Awards at a glittering dinner ceremony on Thursday 7th May, celebrating the achievements of university staff and students. This year was an excellent year for the School of Chemistry, with Dr Mark Elliott winning the high-profile award for Most Effective Teacher, and 3rd year student Thomas Davies winning in the category of Student Academic Rep of the Year for the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering.

The Enriching Student Life Awards are student-led awards, which recognise the dedication and innovation of staff across the University. The awards offer students a chance to formally recognise those staff who has contributed to their academic achievements as well as their overall student experience. The awards are run by the Students Union and annually students are asked to nominate staff from across the University within categories which recognise staffs' helpfulness, quality of feedback, innovation of teaching and teaching quality, as well as celebrating those support staff within the University who improve the overall quality of students' experience at Cardiff.

After his success ahead of many other University staff from all others Schools, Dr Mark Elliott said, "I was absolutely thrilled to be nominated by the students. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have the opportunity to be part of their education."
