Induction information for new undergraduate and postgraduate students the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences.
Congratulations on securing a place to study optometry with us, we look forward to welcoming you to campus.
The School Induction Programme begins on Monday 23 September 2024. It's been produced in consultation with our current students and provides you with essential information required for your first week at university. It's important that you attend all listed sessions.
All in-person induction activities will be held in the School of Optometry (OPTOM) on Maindy Road.
Undergraduates
The undergraduate sessions have purposely been scheduled to finish early, with no activities scheduled for Thursday and Friday, to allow time to attend Optometry Student Society (OPSOC) and Students’ Union activities arranged for Freshers’ Week, to help you settle in and meet new friends.
Throughout semester 1 we have arranged sessions to help familiarise you with the programme and the university. These will appear in your personal timetable, and will include sessions about the equality and diversity, Student Futures (the university careers service), assessment and feedback, the student voice and where/how to access support.
Any additional information will be sent to you via your Cardiff University email, so make sure you check your account before you arrive.
