Workshops and masterclasses
We organise a series of workshops and masterclasses each year to enhance the student experience in composition and performance.
This programme enables students to work directly with professional composers and performers. In most cases, classes are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Composition workshops and seminars
Visiting composers, professional performers and ensembles regularly visit the School to carry out composition workshops and seminars.
This gives you an opportunity to hear your music come to life and gain practical experience of working with performers to realise your compositional ideas in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Advanced performance classes
These classes, given by visiting professional performers, cover a wide range of topics in performance practice.
Recent topics covered have included:
- Russian piano repertoire
- singing Bach and Handel
- the 20th-century flute
- singing in Italian
- rhythm and movement for instrumentalists
- opera arias
- Baroque and early classical repertoire
- singing musical theatre.
We have a range of facilities that are available to you during your studies, from our 250 seat concert hall to practice rooms and recording studios.
